Got yer book?

I finally was able to step out during lunch and buy my copy of Ulysses: The Vintage International paperback of the 1961 text. Given all the vacation prep and othersuch I have to do, I probably won't crack the thing until my flight to New Orleans on Wednesday. But this drowsy early-a.m. traveler will soon be taking that first step.

I actually got mine the middle of last week, and I began to read it. I figured to start as as fast as possible since I am a pretty slow reader. I am also formulating a post on my first impressions.

Ashamed to say my Joyce mania, and my now quelled book acquisition addiction (couldn't leave a book sale without a pile, Booktraders on South Street and the Book Barn on rte 100 were serious threats to my bank balance) means that I have three copies. I'll only be using the paperback 1961 version.

Also, I've made the mistake of starting William Gibson's Pattern Recognition (left it on the bedside table, didn't I?), but not so badly attached that I can't back burner it in favour of this project.

Ooh, Pattern Recognition's a good one.
